BioCare N-Acetyl Cysteine (formerly Bio-Cysteine)
N-Acetyl Cysteine (formerly Bio-Cysteine) provides cysteine which is a sulphur amino acid. N-Acetyl Cysteine contains 500mg N-acetyl cysteine per capsule.
NAC is a non-toxic and stable derivative of the amino acid L-cysteine and a dietary precursor to the important antioxidant and detoxification compound called glutathione. It is therefore of potential benefit in liver detoxification. NAC effectively binds to heavy metals such as mercury, cadmium, lead, thus potentially assisting in their removal from the body. Due to it being part of glutathione, NAC is in itself an effective antioxidant. NAC has been shown to be effective in breaking up the bonds that account for the thick consistency of mucous. It may therefore benefit individuals suffering from respiratory / nasal congestion. NAC has also been shown to inhibit viral spread in virally infected cells.
